Minutes:

Members received a presentation from Deborah Murray, the applicant, in support of the application.

 

Members discussed and asked questions on the following points:

 

That the application would have been passed under officer delegated powers had the Town Council not objected;

The curtilage of the listed building;

The accuracy of the information provided by Historic England in the report;

 

Councillor Sawrey-Cookson proposed that the application be deferred on the grounds of incorrect historic information presented at 2.21.

 

This motion failed to find a seconder and therefore fell.

that planning permission be granted subject to the following conditions:

It was noted by Members that recently Parish Council’s were objecting to applications and not providing a written representation or appearing to speak on the application.

 

The Chair noted how beneficial it was for the Committee to hear from the Parish Representatives and how they could elaborate on their objections to a recommendation through verbal or written representations. It was undertaken to circulate a letter to the Parish Councils to remind them of the procedure for speaking on an application or circulating a written representation.

 

It was requested by Members to receive a status report on some of the developments around the District. Examples raised being the High Carleton Development, and Raiselands Farm in Penrith North, in order to gain a view of the situation.
