The Committee received a verbal update from and asked questions of the Communities Portfolio Holder and the Leisure and Communities Manager. Members received an update about and asked questions of the following matters:

·         Castle Park, Penrith Heritage Lottery Bid

·         A heating system replacement project at Penrith Leisure Centre

·         The Rural Pools Group

·         Eden Community Fund

·         Over 60s leisure sessions

·         Exercise of referral scheme

·         £1 swim initiative for young people during school holidays

·         The Walking for Health Project

 

The Chairman thanked the Communities Portfolio Holder and the Leisure and Communities Manager for attending the meeting and it was RESOLVED that the update be noted.

 

The Communities Portfolio Holder and the Leisure and Communities Manager left the meeting at 08:15pm.

Scrutiny Coordinating Board Update

To receive a verbal update from the Chairman.

The Committee received a verbal update from the Chairman in relation to the Scrutiny Co-ordinating Board RESOLVED that the update be noted.

Cumbria Health and Wellbeing Scrutiny Committee Report

To receive a verbal update from Councillor V Taylor.

Minutes:

The Committee received a verbal update from Councillor Taylor in relation to the Cumbria Health and Wellbeing Scrutiny Committee.

 

The update included a discussion about differences in service provision between child and adult mental health services. It was noted that adult mental health services are commissioned by Adult Social Care and monitored by the Cumbria County Council’s Joint Health Scrutiny Committee. Whereas children’s mental health services was monitored by Cumbria County Council’s Children and Young People Scrutiny Advisory Board. The Committee requested that further information be sought in relation to this and whether this has resulted in any inconsistencies in service provision.

 

Councillor Thompson left the meeting at 8:30pm

 

RESOLVED that a letter be drafted to on behalf of the Housing and Communities Scrutiny Committee to Cumbria County Council in relation to child mental health service provision and that the update be noted.

Letter to Cumbria County Council and Clinical Commissioning Group - Update pdf icon PDF 60 KB

To consider report G90/17 from the Chairman of the Committee which outlines the response received from the North Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to the committee’s letter regarding the Success Regime and its recommendations for changes to healthcare in north, east and west Cumbria.

 

RECOMMENDATION that the contents of the letter from the North Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group be noted.

The Committee considered report G90/17 of the Chairman of the Committee which outlined the response received from the North Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to the committee’s letter regarding the Success Regime and its recommendations for changes to healthcare in north, east and west Cumbria.

 

RESOLVED that the content of the letter from the North Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group be noted.

The Committee considered report G89/17 of the Chairman of the Committee which set out current and possible future agenda items for the Housing and Communities Scrutiny Committee. The report invited suggestions for possible agenda items from all non-Executive Members

 

RESOLVED that:

1.    The briefing from the Integrated Care Communities Manager be scheduled as a pre-meeting on 23 November 2017 and that all Councillors should be invited to attend

2.    That a report or presentation in relation to housing types, affordable housing and Eden District Council’s housing needs survey be scheduled for the meeting on the 23 November 2017.
